There are many different approaches used to deal with psychological or emotional problems.
One of the most common is working with thoughts that trigger the emotional upset—this is called “cognitive therapy.”
Another approach—”psycho dynamic therapy”—works directly with the emotions and uses prescribed medications to control or deal with strong disturbances.
Now there is a new approach that deals with emotional disturbances, and it is based on the age old practices of Acupuncture and Acupressure which use the energy system of the individual. For over 6,000 years Eastern Medicine has been aware of this energy system and has used it to treat various physical problems and now Western Medicine is recognizing its value.
When an individual thinks about or is exposed to a situation or another person, the energy thought fields are aligned in a particular way or pattern. For most people this produces no ill-effects but others suffer psychological pain or disturbances (i.e. paranoia, anxiety, anger).
Using a system of precise diagnostic tools and procedures, the problem meridians (energy pathways in the body) and disturbances can be corrected.
By using one’s fingers to tap on various points of the body in a specific sequence, the disturbed patterns can be changed and the discomfort reversed. This new technique is called Thought Field Therapy™ (TFT™).
What Exactly Is TFT™
This emotional healing model provides the code to nature’s healing system. It balances the body’s energy system and allows a person to eliminate most negative emotions within minutes, while promoting the body’s own healing ability. TFT™ was developed by Dr. Roger Callahan, a clinical psychologist, as a result of a major discovery 20 years ago.
Dr. Callahan specializes in, among other things, the treatment of phobias. At the time he was treating a woman named Mary for severe fear of any type of water. This was so debilitating that she was afraid of puddles, baths, showers, and even rain.
Dr. Callahan was becoming dissatisfied with the results of traditional therapy techniques and was searching for a faster, more pain-free and effective way for his clients to be relieved of their symptoms. Among the theories he was exploring were Acupuncture and Acupressure. Callahan knew that one of the major Acupuncture points for the stomach Meridian was just under the eye.
During one treatment he decided to act on a hunch, asking Mary to tap firmly under both of her eyes. To the total amazement of both patient and doctor, her fear of the water rapidly disappeared. In minutes Mary’s fear of the water vanished and has not returned to this day.
Callahan used Mary’s amazing breakthrough to develop TFT™—the complex and effective system for rapidly diagnosing and treating many forms of emotional distress (and sometimes physical symptoms as well).
Healing with Thought Field Therapy
These techniques have proven themselves to be highly effective and now are available to all. TFT™ may also help with dissolving the lingering effects of past trauma, such as abuse; may accelerate recovery from emotional issues such as depression, anxiety, panic disorders, phobias, stress, and physical pain (including chronic illness); may eliminate negative emotions such as fear, guilt, anger, rage, grief, obsessions, self-sabotage and addictions at their fundamental source.
By using TFT™ you may notice your self-esteem improves, you stop procrastinating and become more connected with who you are and your purpose in life.
This therapy helps individuals to quickly end long-standing, overwhelming negative feelings in the mind and body. It does not involve prolonged reliving of a problem to get better. Suffering is very often relieved in minutes and the distress level dissolves immediately.
Learning the Tapping Technique
TFT™ practitioners then teach their clients how to focus on an upset and how to use the tapping technique so they can use the method themselves at anytime.
You can think of TFT™ as therapy applied to “thought fields.” By definition, a field is an “invisible sphere of influence,” like a magnetic field or gravitational field. When we focus on a current problem or painful memory (or the object of a phobia, like Mary and water) we can feel the “invisible influence” of that thought in our bodies, especially if that thought is particularly distressing.
Thinking about the problem or memory may make us very uncomfortable, which can seriously limit our choices and positive experiences of life. What Callahan discovered is that when we “tune into” a distressing thought field and experience the negative emotions that go with it, we actually feel a disturbance in the body’s electrical energy system. You might think of it as the static in a radio signal when you tune into a station where there is interference.
TFT™ eliminates the disturbances in the body’s energy system. Once the disturbances are eliminated, the client no longer experiences the upsetting feelings.
This opens the way for more comfort, more options, personal freedom, enjoyment and personal power. One of the great advantages of these techniques is that it removes the fear response but does not remove normal caution. In fact, it enhances the ability of the person to handle a situation in a calm, sensible and clear-minded way
I was extremely skeptical when I was first introduced to TFT™ as it is so different from conventional approaches to therapy. It was only with repeated and consistent results that could not be explained in any other way that my skepticism disappeared.
I have been using this technique with clients and the results have been consistent and dependable. Each time I use it with a client and witness the rapid healing and see the enjoyment of life emerging in them, I call it a miracle.
